Title: Enhancing Citizenship Behavior through Transformational Leadership: An Educational Case
Time: Monday, Aug 27, 2007, 14:00 till 16:00
Location: School of Management, University of Tehran
Work behaviours that are beyond the reach of traditional measure of job performance but affect long-term organizational success are receiving abundant theoretical attention since their introduction in the form of organization citizenship behaviours (OCB); especially as global competition becomes more heated and organizational innovation, flexibility and responsiveness to change become crucial. One of these antecedents which attracted a lot of attention is leadership behaviour. A prominent approach to leadership often considered well-matched to this changing environment is transformational leadership. Transformational leaders are concerned with influencing followers’ beliefs and behaviours and organizations’ cultures in order to ensure the success and survival of the organization. Since both OCB and transformational leadership are essential for today’s changing world, different scholars proposed a strong role of this specific type of leadership as antecedent of OCB. This study is another step in clarifying the effect of transformational leaders on followers’ OCB specifically in the educational context.
